A wee deboss

I was asked to contribute to an exhibition of 'mini' (or as we say up here - 'wee') prints. The brief was a very specific and quite unusual size limit of 22 x 14 cm. I had already carved an image of the swooping swallow with the intention of doing another reflection image; so I scanned a proof from the large block and reduced it to make a screen print that would fit the brief. About halfway through, I suddenly thought of using blind embossing (more correctly 'de-bossing') instead of conventional ink colour variation to describe the ripples made when the swallow delicately sips a drop of water from the surface. Flies must make you thirsty!
The response on social media to the finished little print was astonishingly positive and a few people have also asked about the technique. So here is an info sheet about just that.
